Avon Sweet Harvest Lip Balm Collection Fall 2011
Is this the first post I've done about Avon on here? It can't be! I've been an Avon fan for so long, I really should review my Avon stuff more often.
Anyway, one of the things I like most about Avon is the seasonal stuff they do every year. I always make sure to order the seasonal lip balms and bubble baths and the little tubes of hand cream they do with cute designs for each holiday. This year's fall lip balm collection is called Sweet Harvest and it consists of four flavored balms with some really pretty fall label designs.

I always make sure to order the seasonal lip balms and bubble baths and the little tubes of hand cream they do with cute designs for each holiday. This year's fall lip balm collection is called Sweet Harvest and it consists of four flavored balms with some really pretty fall label designs.

They each smell like their names and have a bit of a sweet taste. The Pumpkin Pie one is usually my favorite and this year's version smells pretty good.
The balms have a thick, sort of buttery waxy texture and moisturize fairly well. I'll admit, not the greatest balm formula I've ever used, but the scents and packaging are decent and the price is right (got mine on sale for 69¢).
The one thing I really don't like about Avon's recent balm releases are the labels. They used to always have a colored cap and a printed label, but this year the label is one piece along the entire tube and is perforated at cap level. This means you break the label and leave a rough, ugly edge when removing the cap for the first time. Really wish they'd switch back to the old design which allowed the pretty labels to remain undamaged when removing the cap!
I do love the designs they put on the labels this year. They remind me of old antique cookbooks and thanksgiving table decorations.

How To Do Facials at Home?
Facial
What is a facial good for?
This depends largely on the type of facial that you have. The titles and descriptions of facials give you a vague idea of their general intention. The general aims of most facials are the same:
* To cleanse: to slough away the layer of dead skin cells and deep-clean pores to help prevent acne and dull skin.
* To balance the different areas of facial skin, and improve the texture, general health and appearance.
* To rehydrate (moisturise) and nourish your complexion.
* To tighten and brighten, making you look younger, firmer, fresher and lovelier! Pretty much all facials will cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturise your skin. Just having a facial should make you feel pampered, and most facials will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed, and your skin feeling softer and cleaner.
How to do a facial at home?
What You Need:
- Cucumber slices or tea bags for your eyes
- Towels and washcloths
- Facial cleanser
- Facial Exfoliator
- Facial mask
- Facial moisturizer
- A relaxing place to lie down
- Relaxing music (optional)
Time Required: 30 minutes or less
Here's How:
- Get prepared: Gather your supplies so you won't need to go looking for something you need later on, which would completely ruin the mood. This includes: 2 slices of cucumber or freshly steeped tea bags, turning on relaxing music and clearing a place to relax and lie down when your mask is working. If you have long hair, pull your hair completely back. Use a headband to hold stray hair and bangs out of your face.
- Cleanse: Clean your face using your basic facial cleanser and warm water. Use circular motions with your washcloth to get a nice gentle clean. If you have eye makeup on, gently remove it with eye makeup remover. Rinse your face clean.
- Exfoliate: Exfoliation is the key to smooth healthy skin. Apply a nickle-size dollop of facial exfoliator to your face and gently exfoliate your skin, being careful not to get the exfoliator too close to your eyes. Don't forget to to pay attention your neck and chest, because these areas show skin blemishes and aging just as much as your face does.
When you're finished exfoliating, rinse face clean. - Open Pores: My favorite part of a facial is when they apply hot damp towels to my face, leaving only a small opening by my nose to breath. You can do this easily at home. Have your aromatherapy spritz handy, lie down and grab your damp hot towel. Put the middle of the towel on your chin and wrap the ends up and around your forehead, spreading out the sides to envelope the sides of your face. (Leave a small opening at your nose.) Spritz a couple sprays of aromatherapy spray in the air. You could also put a drop or two of essential oils on your towel for the same effect.
Relax for a few minutes while your pores open. - Apply Mask: Using a mask best suited for your skin type, apply with your fingers, or if you'd like to mimic the spa, use a paint brush.Make sure you apply a good amount of mask to all areas of your face, neck and chest, but avoid the eyes.
Most masks need to sit for a good 10 minutes. - Treat your eyes: Lie down in a comfortable spot and place your cucumber slices or tea bags on your eyes. This is a good time to relax to your music and enjoy the moment. If you're lucky enough to have a partner at home, ask if he could give you a hand massage while your mask is working.
- RinseUsing a warm wet towel, wipe off your mask making sure you pay special attention the areas around your nose and your hair line, which are easy targets for left-behind mask.
- Moisturize: The final step is to apply your moisturizer. Feel free to give yourself a slight massage while applying, concentrating on your temples.

May is National Recommitment Month- Time to recommit to taking care of your skin
Did you know that May is National Recommitment Month ? What a great time to "recommit" to taking care of your skin. Several ways we should all be doing that is removing make up daily, following a good skin care regimen daily, and applying sunblock or day creams, foundations, etc with SPF to protect our skin. If you are ready to "recommit" to taking better care of your skin, I can help. We can talk through the areas and skin needs you want to focus on and find an affordable solution. You and your skin deserve it. :)
May Drawing will be for: a 2 week starter kit for the Anew Reversalist skin care line! This is a $25.00 value! It also has a $10.00 coupon on the box towards a full size kit! I absolutely love using Anew products and am thrilled with the results I have seen in 1 week of use! Now I get to share that with someone else! Every order placed online through my site or directly through me in May will count as an entry. Good luck!
How to look put together in 5 minutes
So it's Monday morning, you overslept, and you have an important meeting you can't be late for at work. What do you do? Take a makeup shortcut! To look completely put together you just need a few key items: concealer, blush, mascara, lipstick. If you have time to put on Magix Face Perfector, that will save you a step, you can use that instead of your moisturizer, and it will help the skin look polished. Then apply concealer under the eyes, and on the inner corners of the eyes, by the bridge of the nose, to lighten up any shadows. Sweep on some blush and mascara, dot the lips with some lipstick or lip gloss, and you're ready to go. The concealer will brighten up the face, while the mascara will open up your eyes. You'll look fantastic in 5 minutes or less!
Also, I finally bought the Magix Face Perfector after reading so many reviews about how great it is. I have to say, the reviews were absolutely right on. It does everything it promises to, it smoothes skin, shrinks pores, and makes skin more even. Under foundation, this is a miracle product. It is like a primer that other brands have, but it is not greasy at all. It is also SPF 20, which neans an extra layer of protection on top of your moisturizer with SPF or under your foundation, with SPF. This means fewer wrinkles and fewer age spots, all while looking fantastic. You look airbrushed, that's the best way to put it. Would I recommend this product? Yes, I believe it is a must have to achieve a look that is perfect. Trust me, it's well worth it! Be sure to check it out and also check out the Custom shade foundation in the current brochure. I love it too!! Goes on white then custom colors and looks so natural!! LOVE IT!!

How to Organize your Make up
Here are tips on how to organize your makeup so you can find products easily (and prevent those messy, and expensive, spills!)
Take inventory
Check your stash to see if your makeup needs to be thrown away. In general it’s best to throw away mascara after 3 months, lipstick and foundation after one year, and eyeshadow after two years. Read this article on how to check if your makeup has expired.Sort your makeup
What’s your everyday makeup and what are the ones you use for special occasions? For example, I have a makeup bag where I put the colors I usually use for work, including my “lazy day” palette of tinted moisturizer, concealer and cream blush that I can swipe on in two minutes and be ready to go. (Read more tips on makeup for busy women.) Shimmery, sparkly eyeshadows that I usually reserve for evening parties go into another box.Get small containers
It’s annoying and time consuming to wade through a big box to find one small eyeliner pencil. If you store makeup in your drawer, use a cutlery tray to keep small items neatly organized (for example, all eye products like mascara and eyeliner in one section, and lip pencils and lip crayons in another).Store brushes properly
I have a brush bag for my complete set of makeup brushes, but it can be a hassle to get it out just to get a foundation brush. So I keep the frequently used brushes within easy access, like in an old jar or mug, which I keep in front of the mirror. That way, I can also clean the brushes regularly—since they’re within easy reach, I can give them a quick swish after brushing my teeth or waiting for a mudmask to dry, etc.
